Several people were shot at a country club in New Hampshire and a suspect was later detained, the local authorities said late Saturday.
The shooting occurred at the Sky Meadow Country Club in Nashua, a city of more than 90,000 people in southern New Hampshire, the Nashua Police Department said at about 8:30 p.m. The authorities did not specify how many gunshot victims there were or what conditions they were in.
Sky Meadow Country Club is a private club with facilities that include a golf course, a restaurant, and venues that are used for events like weddings and bar mitzvahs, according to the club’s website.
The suspect was detained and there is no danger to the public, the Nashua Police Department said on social media. Officials initially said there were two armed suspects and that one was at large, but said about an hour later that video surveillance footage had confirmed there was only one shooter.
The New Hampshire State Police said on social media that it was assisting with the investigation.
A police spokesman did not immediately respond to an inquiry. A phone call to the country club rang unanswered.
Two Democratic lawmakers from New Hampshire, Senator Jeanne Shaheen and Representative Maggie Goodlander, said on social media that they were monitoring the situation.
