On Sunday, the 77th Emmy Awards took place at the Peacock Theater in downtown Los Angeles under the shadow of heightened political violence in America. New security measures for the event posed the question of whether the red carpet might look different this time around.
The answer was not really. Though a few stars used the carpet as a political soapbox, it was mostly business as usual, with many plugging lighter fare like upcoming projects or details about their ensembles. There was plenty of traditional black-tie finery, but some dialed up the excitement in metallics or bright colors. A couple attendees sought attention by dressing down (in sleeveless tops and T-shirts), and a coterie of drag queens stood out by dressing like mimes and Michael Jackson (among other things).
Of all the fashion at the Emmys, these 15 looks were some of the most memorable.
