Three people were killed and three others were injured in a shooting on a suburban street just outside Fredericksburg, Va., on Tuesday night, the Spotsylvania County Sheriff’s Office said.
The shooting was reported around 5:30 p.m. near Olde Greenwich Circle, a street of small townhouses in Spotsylvania County about 60 miles southwest of Washington, D.C., the sheriff’s office said.
Elizabeth Scott, a major with the sheriff’s office, said that the shooting had happened outside and did not arise from a domestic dispute. A motive was not immediately clear, she said.
The sheriff’s office said in a statement that no one had been taken into custody, and that the ages of the victims were not yet known.
“This is an active and fluid investigation,” the sheriff’s office said.
This is a developing story.
