Israel’s leader, Benjamin Netanyahu, forcefully rejected international criticism during his address today to the United Nations General Assembly. Many diplomats boycotted the speech, in which he promised that Israel would “hunt down” its enemies and “finish the job” in Gaza.

Netanyahu suggested that Israel’s critics were partly to blame for the war continuing, accusing them of caving “when the going got tough.” He rejected the possibility of a Palestinian state and described the recognition of one by the vast majority of U.N. members as “disgraceful.”

Netanyahu also accused the world of forgetting about the horrors of Oct. 7. On his lapel, he wore a large QR code that linked to gruesome images from the Hamas-led assault.

On his way to the U.N. summit, Netanyahu’s flight took a circuitous route to avoid countries where he is subject to an arrest warrant.

Meanwhile in Gaza, Israel’s military has razed block after block of Gaza City as part of a new ground offensive. Take a look from above.

President Trump celebrated the indictment of James Comey, the former F.B.I. director, as “justice” rather than retribution. But the president’s comments and actions cast doubt on that assertion.

An inexperienced prosecutor with close ties to Trump filed the charges against Comey, defying the strong recommendations of both her subordinates and predecessor. She was following the direct commands of the president, who justified his decision to trample over decades-old norms by arguing that Democrats had weaponized the Justice Department against him first.

A man with an AR-15-style rifle walked into a Midtown Manhattan office building two months ago and killed four people, then fatally shot himself in the chest. The building houses N.F.L. headquarters. The gunman, who played football in high school, had a note in his wallet that said that he believed he had brain trauma and accused the league of covering up the dangers of the game.

The Times identified more than 145 people who have been fired or disciplined at their jobs after they made statements about the assassination of Charlie Kirk. They had a wide range of occupations and live in a variety of states. (Dozens of others are still under investigation by their employers.)

Firings over controversial comments are not new, but they appear to have become more frequent. After Kirk’s death, Vice President JD Vance urged people to alert the employers of anyone who celebrated the killing.

Looks from Ukraine Fashion Week.Credit...Finbarr O’Reilly for The New York Times

On the runways in Kyiv, it’s not the tallest, the thinnest or the most famous models who attract the most interest. It’s former soldiers, many of whom have lost limbs, who were the stars of this Fashion Week.

Fitting for a series of shows that were delayed by air-raid alerts, in a country where tens of thousands of people have lost at least one limb since the Russian invasion three and a half years ago. The mission of the event was “to inspire other people who have scars not to be ashamed of them and not to hide,” said one model who had suffered serious burns in a helicopter crash.

Some movies are good. Others are bad. But there’s a third, underappreciated, category: films that are so thoroughly ridiculous that they leave you wanting to come back and rewatch them years down the line. Few fit in the category better than the 1997 blockbuster “Face/Off,” starring John Travolta and Nicolas Cage.

Almost everything about the extravagant action thriller is absurd. Cage plays a deranged psychopath who falls into a coma. Travolta plays an F.B.I. agent who decides to steal Cage’s character’s face — and identity — to stop an attack. When Cage’s character wakes up, he demands a surgeon make him look like Travolta. Fabulous insanity ensues.

Have an unhinged weekend.
