An unlicensed body sculpting guru known to her Southern California clients as the “butt lady” was sentenced on Wednesday to 15 years to life in prison in the March death of an actress who stopped breathing after being injected with silicone.
It was the second time that the rogue practitioner, Libby Adame, 55, of Jurupa Valley, Calif., had performed a butt lift procedure with fatal results, prosecutors said.
Her latest victim was Cindyana Santangelo, 59, an actress who appeared in single episodes of “Married… With Children,” “ER” and “CSI: Miami.” She experienced an embolism from the injections, the authorities said.
In October, a California Superior Court jury in Los Angeles County found Ms. Adame guilty of second-degree murder in Ms. Santangelo’s death and of practicing medicine without a certificate.
“You were on notice of the dangers,” Lee A. Cernok, the deputy district attorney for Los Angeles County, said during the sentencing. “Three hundred forty-one days later, she does it again.”
In March 2024, Ms. Adame and her daughter, Alicia Galaz, were convicted of involuntary manslaughter — but were acquitted of second-degree murder — in the 2019 death of Karissa Rajpaul, 26.
