A driver fled the scene after ramming a vehicle into a group of people, including children, outside a Maryland home on Saturday night, the police said.

The police in Maryland said they were searching for the driver of a vehicle who rammed into a group of people at a children’s birthday party in a Washington, D.C., suburb on Saturday night, injuring a least 14 people, including eight children.
Among the injured were children between 2 and 9 years old. The driver abandoned the vehicle and fled the scene on foot, the police said.
The police were called around 10:15 p.m. about the crash outside a residence where people were gathered for the party, the police in Bladensburg, in Prince George’s County, Maryland, said in a statement on Sunday.
At least 11 people were taken to hospitals. The status of the other three victims was not immediately publicly available.

Kimberly Greene, a spokeswoman for the police, declined to provide additional details, including the conditions of the victims.
The police are investigating the identity of the driver and the cause of the crash, the statement said.
